Inner self and outer self: an understanding

hazelvisualart:

After engaging in my tutorial with Jacques and discussing my ideas and themes within my work, the subject of having an inner self and outer self and what we allow ourselves to share within a relationship arose as a theme which was prevalent in my studio practice as of late. Subsequently, after…

Shit that I do during the holidays. Partly work orientated, partly boredom and practice. Readying myself for insane amounts of work next week.

I’ve made a blog specifically for just my uni work - hazelvisualart.tumblr.com

If anyone tells you, you can’t do something, they’re wrong. Like people used to say the sky’s the limit, then someone went to the fucking moon. It’s also nice to remember that nothing worth while ever came easy and nothing easy is ever really worth while either. So don’t call something a problem, call it a challenge.

5,676 words later and I have a completed essay. I really enjoyed writing this one and learning about the work of Magritte and his personal life was an interesting experience. Though a lot of my practical work has been on hold for the duration of writing it therefore thought I would upload some recent (as of the other day) practical work using inks. No computer edits here just the original photographs of the work with the contrast touched up slightly.

Not uni work but I haven’t done any personal artwork since before the start of the second year so it felt good having some spare time to work on this.

Just finished watching a film that was recommended to me by Lizzie and is titled ‘Men Don’t Tell’ which is an old film (aired in 1993) based on a real life story and it follows the story of a married man who is beaten by his neurotic wife and is in essence quite a sad, eye opening story. I plan to write a full review tomorrow on my thoughts about it because it ties in very well with the ideas I’m looking at at the moment.
